HERISSON splices have successfully passed high speed tensile tests simulating an aeroplane crash (APC), a qualification stipulated as a necessary requirement by the ETC-C of mechanical coupling for construction of nuclear power plants.

HERISSON+ couplers have successfully passed the low-cycle loading tests (oligocyclic test). This test, described in the ISO15835 standard, is divided in 2 parts, each corresponding to a seismic simulation:
Moderate earthquake: the construction remains serviceable after an earthquake Severe earthquake: the structure retains its total integrity during the earthquake to ensure people safety.
The combination of rolled thread on the rebar together with the Herisson coupler, being hot-forged, makes our splices highly resistant to fatigue loading.
Herisson splices have undergone without any damage over 5 millions loading cycles with a 300 Mpa maximum load and under a 100 Mpa stress range ie far more severe conditions than the example quoted in the NFA 35-020 standard
